As you can see in the photograph, all ages, sizes, and shapes of human handlers are
also welcome! You will see all levels of handlers from first time competitors to experienced
national or international level competitors. In some sanctioning organizations veteran
handlers over the age of 65 and junior handlers under the age of 18 are allowed additional
time to run courses. At all levels, safety, good sportsmanship and gentle handling of the dogs
are priorities.
Good handlers always take time to praise their dogs at the end of each run regardless of
how things have gone. After all, most faults are caused by handler errors such as late
commands and wrong cues. Taking time to praise your dog also teaches him/her to come to
you at the end of the run rather than running out of the ring.
